This conclusion reveals that the Gestalt Nier is not a random monster, but rather the Gestalt version of Nier himself. Contrary to some interpretations, the Gestalt Nier does not manipulate events to help the Replicant; instead, he opposes the Replicant, seeking to reunite with his own Yonah. The lore establishes that while the Replicants were created to house consciousness, the Gestalts remained in stasis, eventually corrupted by their own desperation.

The narrative explores the futility of seeking a perfect world without loss. In Ending D, the Replicant Nier defeats the Gestalt Nier—this defeat is the same event as the Replicant's victory, not a separate occurrence. The Replicant then sacrifices himself to erase his own existence, a choice that transcends simply letting Yonah live or allowing the Gestalt Nier to reunite with her.
